Well, the close of the year has seen me revise my Lotus +2 strategy somewhat. I have sold the engines out of the crashed yellow car and also the sand coloured car. Both on Ebay (what would Lotus enthusiasts do without it?) Also the 4sp box out of the yellow car has gone as well. I intend to get rid of more bits as time goes on.

However, to even the parts bin up a bit I have bought a tired JPS +2. There are three small images below. I will get some proper ones up in the next update. I have not taken delivery yet but I have seen the car and know the following.

It has been stored outside for 5 years. It is pretty much complete and original. It has a dead chassis. The paintwork has severe blistering (apart from the roof). The interior is OK but needs work. More importantly it needs changing to black:) The pasenger side wheelarch has seen light damage in the past and has been poorly repaired. The interior is OK but needs work. The screen is parting company with the body. The running gear has been renewed and should be OK. The suspension has polybushes. It had an engine and gearbox rebuild in the mid 80s and has only done 5000 miles since then, most of that just before the chassis died. It also has Lumenition optical ignition.

My revised plan is to replace the chassis, do as quick a job on the paintwork as possible, and drive the JPS car. Meanwhile, I will do a proper job on the sand coloured body and (funds and time allowing) build that up as a Zetec car.

That means that I will be selling a whole load of extra bits and keeping the better ones for the JPS car. Subject to the JPS car's engine being OK, I will sell the rebuilt big valve engine that was part of the rolling chassis. The purpose of selling that rather than using it is to keep the JPS car as original as possible. I know that changing the interior to black will not be original, but I cannot live with the outmeal and it is something that can be easily changed back in the future.

No doubt once I get and examine the JPS car properly I will have to revise my plans again. Pictures to follow...............
